Parma Secures Serie A Safety with Crucial 1-0 Victory Over Pisa
Parma celebrates Serie A safety after a 1-0 victory over Pisa, secured by Nesta Elphege's decisive goal. The win condemns Pisa to Serie B, despite hitting the woodwork twice.
Parma celebrated its Serie A status on April 25, 2026, securing safety with a crucial 1-0 victory over Pisa at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. Nesta Elphege's decisive goal, scored after coming off the bench, ignited the Ducali's celebrations and, at the same time, condemned Pisa to relegation to Serie B, despite the visitors hitting the woodwork twice.
The Ducali were ready to celebrate Serie A safety after a surprise away victory against Udinese, which put them 11 points clear of the drop zone. For the match, Mateo Pellegrino returned from a head injury, while Matija Frigan and Benja Cremaschi were absent. Pisa, on the other hand, was heading to Serie B after four consecutive defeats, and had to do without Matteo Tramoni, Rafiu Durosinmi, Marius Marin, and Daniel Denoon, with Mehdi Leris still playing despite an ankle sprain.
The match started lively. In the sixth minute, Pisa's goalkeeper, Zion Suzuki, made a desperate reaction save, flinging his face in the way of Isak Vural's powerful volley from six yards. Moments later, Parma's Mandela Keita responded by robbing Ebeneezer Akinsanmiro in midfield and forcing a low, one-handed save from Parma's goalkeeper, Adrian Semper.
Hans Nicolussi Caviglia curled just wide, but Pisa's biggest chance came when Akinsanmiro, from a Vural lay-off, thumped the base of the near post from close range, narrowly missing the lead for the Tuscans.
Despite Pisa's opportunities, it was Parma who found the decisive goal. Nesta Elphege, who came on as a substitute, scored the goal that broke the deadlock and kicked off the celebrations for the Gialloblù's safety, solidifying their position in Serie A.
The 1-0 victory confirmed Parma's stay in Italy's top flight, a deserved result after a hard-fought season. For Pisa, however, the defeat sealed a bitter fate, with relegation to Serie B now a certainty, concluding a series of negative results.
