Parma prepares to face Inter, who could clinch the Scudetto. Meanwhile, a referee scandal rocks Serie A, with sporting fraud accusations involving past Parma matches.

Parma is set to face Serie A leaders Inter this weekend at the San Siro stadium. While the Nerazzurri aim to secure their 21st Scudetto, the encounter is overshadowed by a growing referee scandal threatening the integrity of Italy's top flight. Inter, holding a ten-point lead over Napoli, needs just one win in their final four matches to clinch the title. Scudetto celebrations could even begin before the Parma match if Napoli loses to Como and AC Milan fails to win against Sassuolo. However, the primary focus is on the scandal involving the head of referees for Serie A and Serie B, Gianluca Rocchi, who is under investigation by Milan prosecutors for "sporting fraud." Rocchi suspended himself after the news broke, also implicating VAR chief Andrea Gervasoni and two other officials. Parma is directly linked to one of the incidents under investigation. Daniele Paterna, another official, is accused of giving false testimony regarding an episode where Rocchi is suspected of trying to influence a VAR ruling on a handball during Udinese's 1-0 win over Parma in March last year. Rocchi is also suspected of having influenced the selection of Andrea Colombo as the referee for Inter's 1-0 defeat at Bologna in April last year. Gervasoni, on the other hand, is suspected of instructing a VAR official to ensure a penalty was not given to Inter for a foul on Yann Bisseck during their 1-0 home defeat to Roma, also played last April. Currently, five matches are under suspicion, none from the current season. All five individuals officially under investigation are match officials, with no one from any football club yet in prosecutors' sights. The situation casts a significant shadow over Italian football.
